Lung herniation post-removal of thoracostomy tube

Abstract A 30-year-old gentleman presented with complaints of fever, productive cough, and shortness breath for 10 days. On presentation, he had a right intercostal drainage tube (ICD) in situ view chest radiograph findings where hydropneumothorax was suspected. He past history pulmonary tuberculosis 3 years back which self-discontinued anti-tubercular therapy after months. also diagnosed 2 aspergilloma receiving anti-fungal therapy. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) the suggested destroyed lung multiple cavitations, ICD inserted right-sided cavity, intracavitatory left lung. Hence, it confirmed that patient abscess pus large cavity on mimicked hydropneumothorax. The subsequently case chronic cavitatory aspergillosis, thoracostomy removed. Post-tube removal, developed herniation from suture site CT scan successfully managed conservatively. Follow-up at months did not reveal any evidence herniation.
